Gayla Smith, vocalist, pianist, guitarist, bassist, and composer, has performed in central Ohio for over three decades and has also shared her talents with audiences in Milwaukee, Nashville, New York, Washington D.C.,Key West, St.Thomas, and Nassau. In 2008-2009 Gayla was hired by Carnival Cruise lines as a piano bar entertainer on The Carnival Glory playing in their posh Cinn-a-Bar. In spring of 2009, Gayla has since performed on the Carnival Splendor, Liberty and Valor. Gayla was then honored to be contracted by Disney Cruise Lines to perform on the Disney Magic, rated the number one favorite of cruisers by Conde Nast 2013. She then entertained through ports of call such as Alaska, Galveston, San Francisco and the Panama Canal on the Disney Wonder, also very highly rated by seasoned cruisers subscribing to Conde Nast. Gayla was invited to be the featured piano bar entertainer in the new "Keys" Lounge on the Disney Magic for it’s inaugural voyage celebrating it’s highly publicized “re-imaginined” renovation in the fall of 2013. Topping off a wonderful relationship with Disney Cruise Lines, Gayla went on to play multiple contracts on the Disney Fantasy.
Gayla has a versatile style with a song list that ranges everywhere from Billie Holliday to Bruno Mars. She has been described by her followers as having “the voice of an angel” and is equally admired as an accomplished pianist/guitarist.
Gayla currently resides in the Columbus, Ohio area where she works as a visual artist and plays trio, duo and solo pop, rock, and jazz performances. Additionally, Gayla performs voice-over work (she received certification for voice-over artistry studying with Columbus, Ohio’s Susan Andre) as well as dramatic roles in local television commercials. She also composes and records her own original music.
